Baby Amigurumi – Free crochet pattern by Kaia Crochet

Here is a wonderful crocheted pattern and in addition free of charge. The creator is 蘇蘇姐家 (Susan’s family) or KaiaCrochet on Etsy.

Materials:

• Cotton yarn (160 m/50 g) in the following colors: blue or pink, skin color, white, brown.
• Crochet hook 1.5 mm
• 30mm plastic safety joints (for those who want a mobile head)
• Two pieces of canvas 12 x 8 cm (for the pillow)
• Lace 2cm wide
• 2 mm thick wire
• Small white pearl
• 10mm diameter metal/plastic ring
• 5mm wide ribbon for hat bands
• Pompon 3cm in diameter
• Scissors, needle, pins
• Fiberfill

It has a height of 14cm if you work with the materials mentioned.

ARMS x 2

Skin color:

• 1. 5sc in MR
• 2. 1sc, inc, 2sc, inc = 7
• 3-5. 7sc (3 rds)
• 6. 3sc, inc-dc, 3sc = 8
• 7. (sc, inc)x 4 = 12
• 8-11. 12sc (4 rds)
• 12. (sc, dec, sc)x 3 = 9

Leave a tail of 30 cm for sewing.

LEGS x 2

Foot

Skin color:

• 1.3ch, from the second ch of hook : 1sc, inc3sc and on the other side of the chain: inc = 6
• 2. inc, sc, 2inc, sc, inc = 10
• 3. (3sc, dec)x 2 = 8
• 4. 3sc, dec, 2sc, inc = 8
• 5. 6sc, 2inc = 10
• 6. 2sc, 2inc, 6sc = 12
• 7. 12sc. Stuff. Leave a tail of 30 cm for sewing.

Leg

Skin color:

• 1. 6sc in MR
• 2. 6inc = 12
• 3-5. 12sc (3rds). Stuff.

Join to the foot:

• 6. 1ch, 1sc on the leg, 10sc on the foot (start on the inside of the foot, with the toes towards you), skip 2st of the foot, skip 2 st of the leg, 9sc on the leg = 20
• 7. 20sc

Knee:

• 8. (3sc, dec)x 4 = 16
• 9. (sc, dec, sc)x 4 = 12. Stuff.
• 10. 6dec = 6. Close the hole.

With a pen make 4 points for the toes as in the photo. From the first point (the knee is pointing down) crochet 3 slst. Hide the threads.

BODY

Skin color:

• 1. 6sc in MR
• 2. 6inc = 12

• 4. (sc, inc, sc)x 6 = 24

• 6-7. 30sc

Body shaping with skin color yarn:

Insert the needle after counting 7 rows from bottom to top and 10 sc from the middle of the belly. The bulging part of body is the baby’s bottom. Exit with the needle on the other side. There are 11 sc left on the back. Return to one row below from the starting point and pull the thread so that it is convex (see photo). Repeat on the other side. Sew the legs! (video: 36’14”)

Sew the arms to the side one row below the top edge of the body.

For better shaping of the hands, sew the arms by inserting the same wire in both.

Put the plastic safety joint and continue:

Skin color:

• 1. 7ch, 1slst in a circle, then 7 inc = 14, 1slst, 1ch
• 2. (sc, inc)x 7 = 21, 1slst. Leave a tail of 60 cm.

Those who do not use plastic safety joints can use the wire to support the head, inserting it into both the head and the body. Sewing the head on the body in this case will be done in the desired position of the head, without crocheting the connection detail (disc).

EARS x 2

Skin color:

In MR: 3dc, 1ch, slst. Leave a tail for sewing to the head, sideways, 17 rows from the center of the head, 5sc from the eyes.

PACIFIER

The same color as the panties and the hat:

1. 7sc in MR, leave a tail for sewing.

The 1 cm diameter plastic/metal ring is wrapped with white thread and sewn to the pacifier disc. You can also sew a small white bead in the middle of the colored disc.

Embroider the eyes, eyebrows and nose as in the photo.

Sew the pompom to the top of the hat and then sew 2 hat bands, sideways.

Make a pillow from two pieces of 12×8 cm canvas. Sew the lace on the edge, then stuff it.
