Potted Tulips – Free crochet pattern



Today we can learn how to make beautiful potted tulips. Step by step instructions with video. Creator is @Mayelin Ros.
This pattern can be a heartwarming gift for friends and loved ones. It’s an easy crochet project for beginners so, let’s get started!

MATERIALS

  • Cotton or acrylic yarn: orange, red, light yellow, yellow, green, dark brown and brown colors.
  • Crochet hook 3.5 mm
  • Skewer sticks or thick wire about 30cm long
  • Thin craft wire
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle
  • Fiberfill
  • Point marker
  • Hot silicone
  • Something to give weight, for example some stones to keep the pot upright
  • Thick cardboard or plastic

FLOWER x 4

Orange color (or desired color)

  • 1: 8sc in MR
  • 2: 8 inc = 16
  • 3: (1sc, inc)x 8 = 24
  • 4: (1sc, inc, 1sc)x 8 = 32
  • 5: (3sc, inc)x 8 = 40
  • 6-15 (10 rds): 40sc. FO. Leave a tail for sewing.

Insert the stick through the center of the magic ring of first round, put a little hot silicone on the tip of the stick and wrap the thread like in the photo. Then glue the wrapped tip and stuff the flower. Fold in half and sew the middle and again fold and sew the middle. Wrap the rest of the stick with green thread and seal it at the end with hot silicone.

LEAF x 2 (for each tulip)

Green color:

23ch, put the thin craft wire and from the forth ch of hook make: inc-hdc, inc-dc, inc-tr, 13tr, 1dc, 1hdc, 2sc, (1sc, picot of 2ch, 1sc) – in the same stitch. Leave a start wire of 2.5 cm, fold it at the end of first round and continue on the other side of the chain: 2sc, 1hdc, 1dc, 13tr, inc-tr, inc-dc, inc-hdc, slst in the second ch of the starting chain. FO. Wrap the green thread around the two ends of the remaining wire of approximately 2.5 cm each and seal it with hot silicone.

Leave about 10 cm free at the other end of the stick and attach the two leaves with the help of warm silicone and green thread (there are about 16 cm from the flower to the two leaves).

FLOWERPOT

Dark brown color:

  • 1: 6sc in MR
  • 2: 6 inc = 12
  • 3: (1sc, inc)x 6 = 18
  • 4: (1sc, inc, 1sc)x 6 = 24
  • 5: (3sc, inc)x 6 = 30
  • 6: (2sc, inc, 2sc)x 6 = 36
  • 7: (5sc, inc)x 6 = 42
  • 8: (3sc, inc, 3sc)x 6 = 48
  • 9: (7sc, inc)x 6 = 54. FO. Cut the thread.

With brown:

  • 1: 6sc in MR
  • 2: 6 inc = 12
  • 3: (1sc, inc)x 6 = 18
  • 4: (1sc, inc, 1sc)x 6 = 24
  • 5: (3sc, inc)x 6 = 30
  • 6: (2sc, inc, 2sc)x 6 = 36
  • 7: (5sc, inc)x 6 = 42
  • 8: 42sc
  • 9: (3sc, inc, 3sc)x 6 = 48
  • 10: (7sc, inc)x 6 = 54

Cut out a thick disc of cardboard or plastic the size of the base.

  • 11: BLO 54sc
  • 12: (4hdc, inc-hdc, 4hdc)x 6 = 60
  • 13: (9hdc, inc-hdc)x 6 = 66
  • 14: (5hdc, inc-hdc, 5hdc)x 6 = 72. Insert the plastic/carboard disc.
  • 15-22 (8 rds): 72hdc
  • 23: (5sc, dec, 5sc)x 6 = 66
  • 24: (9sc, dec)x 6 = 60
  • 25: (4sc, dec, 4sc)x 6 = 54. Insert the stones and stuff.

Join with the brown disc: take a front loop from the pot and a back loop to the brown disc! Stuff while crocheting:

  • 26: (8dc, inc-dc)x6

HEART x 2

Red and yellow color yarn: In MR: 3ch, 3tr, 3dc, 1ch, 1tr, 1ch, 3dc, 3tr, 3ch, 1slst – close the ring.
