Valentine Couple – Crochet pattern with a video guide

When I was a child, I received as a gift two dolls that were kissing with the help of two magnets. I loved them and I remember them fondly.

So I thought of reproducing them, but with a crochet hook.

Here’s what came out!

Materials:

• Cotton yarn 125m/50g in the following colors: brown, light brown, yellow, red, black (a little) and skin color
• 2 pairs of 5mm safety eyes
• 2 small magnets
• White and blue sewing thread
• 4 pipe cleaners
• Hook No. 1,5
• Fiberfill for stuffing
• Pins, scissors, needle.
• Red pencil or pastel for coloring the cheeks
• Optional: a disc (cardboard, plastic or wood) 4mm thick and 95 mm in diameter.

Height of the dolls of each of them 105 mm (4.13 inches)

Body and head

Start with yellow:

• 1. 5ch, from the second ch of hook: 3sc, inc3sc, and on the other side of the chain: 2dc, inc = 10

Start to stuff the head!

Shape the shoes and legs with white sewing thread and a needle (watch the video for the boy, minute 10:50)

EARS x 2

Skin color yarn:

1. 2ch, from the second ch of hook: 3sc. FO. Leave a tail for sewing!

Ears are sewn between 29-31 rows, 4 stitches away from the eyes (video minute 30:24).

Embroidery the eyes, the nose and mouth (video from minute 21:55 and from 27:50). Color the cheeks. (watch the video for the boy from minute 38:28)

HANDS x 2

Start with skin color yarn:

• 1. 5sc in MR
• 2-8. 5sc (7rds)
• Change to white.
• 9. 5inc = 10. Insert pipe-cleaner (video minute 26:35)
• 10. 5dec = 5. FO.
• Leave a tail for sewing to the body. Sew them to the body.

DRESS

Red color yarn:

• 1. 18ch closed in a circle with slst.
• 2-3. 18sc
• 4. (2sc, inc) x 6 = 24
• 5. (3sc, inc) x 6 = 30
• 6. (4sc, inc) x 6 = 36
• 7-9. 36sc (3rds). FO.
• Crochet 2 chains to the appropriate length to make the shoulder straps. I made 5ch.

HAIR

Brown color yarn:

• 1. 7sc in MR
• 2. 7inc = 14
• 3. (1sc, inc) x 7 = 21
• 4. (2sc, inc) x 7 = 28
• 5. (3sc, inc) x 7 = 35

Sew the hair to the head (video for the boy minute 31:33).

BRAIDS x2

Brown color yarn:

• 1. 9ch, from the second ch of hook crochet: 2sc, 1hdc, 2dc, 1hdc, 1sc, inc and on the other side of the chain: 1sc, 1hdc, 2dc, 1hdc, 2sc = 16
• 2. 2sc, 1hdc, 2dc, 1hdc, 4sc, 1hdc, 2dc, 1hdc, 2sc = 16
• 3.  16sc. FO. Leave a tail for sewing. Fold and sew only one end.
• The braids are sewn between 6-8 rows from the hair.

Skin color yarn:

• 2ch, from the second ch of hook: 3sc. FO. Leave a tail for sewing!
• Ears are sewn between 29-31 rows, 4 stitches away from the eyes (video minute 30:24).

• Sew the hair to the head. Attach to the top of the head a tuft of hair made of a few brown threads (video minute 31:33).

Shape the body so that the doll is able to stand on its own. The head should be slightly back, the hands spread sideways to the back. However, the two dolls will support each other at the point of intersection of the two attracting magnets.

You can also stick the soles of the shoes on a disc on which the two lovers will sit, but you will not be able to change their position, they will only be kissing.

• Passa al bianco.

VESTITO

Cuci i capelli alla testa. Attacca alla sommità della testa un ciuffo di capelli formato da qualche filo marrone (video minuto 31:33).
