My Watermelon Doll – Made Exactly Following Emekhobi’s Tutorial

I recently discovered the YouTube channel of Emekhobi and fell in love with her watermelon-shaped doll.
I crocheted my own version, following her video tutorials step by step, without any changes.

Below you can see my finished doll – the exact same design, made by me.

My finished work

This is my doll. I followed Emekhobi’s instructions exactly, using the same colors and techniques shown in her videos.

Materials I used (same as recommended)

  • Cotton blend yarn – skin color, white, brown, green
  • Acrylic yarn – white and red for the dress
  • 1.75 mm crochet hook
  • 12–14 mm safety eyes
  • 8 small buttons (4 red, 2 white, 2 black)
  • Fiberfill for stuffing
  • Wool needle
  • Black, white, and brown embroidery thread
  • 1.5 mm wire for skeleton (optional) – 20 cm for each arm, about 75 cm for legs-body-head
  • Scissors

For Emekhobi’s complete recommended materials list, watch the beginning of her first video.

Official playlist

Emekhobi created a complete playlist for this watermelon doll. All videos are in the correct working order.

The playlist is here

I watched all the tutorials in this order, and it was very easy to follow along.

If you struggle with a specific section (for example, the hair or the heel), I recommend watching that video twice before starting.

My experience and tips

  • I followed every step exactly as shown.
  • The trickiest part for me was the heel of the legs – I had to watch that section twice.
  • The hair is the most time‑consuming part, but the result is worth it.
  • I used wire for the skeleton (20 cm for each arm, about 75 cm for legs‑body‑head).
  • Don’t forget to insert the safety eyes before closing the head – I almost did!

Everything else is exactly as Emekhobi teaches – so please watch her videos carefully.
